Quest Seekers Children's PowerPoint

This has been designed to appeal to children and families to encourage children to join in.

It can be used as a backdrop in the library, perhaps as a default on computer terminals, or plasma screens, and when presenting to groups of children in schools, outreach groups, Brownies, Cubs etc. Some health centres/ surgeries may also be able to play it as a slide show in waiting rooms etc.

The powerpoint is not locked so you can customise it with additional slides or edit the text to suit. The font used is Comic Sans MS regular.

On slide 7 we have plucked a typical start and finish date: 17th July and 4th September. Please edit to reflect your dates / or delete dates.

Quest Seekers School/teacher PowerPoint

This PowerPoint summarises the key facts and figures about the scale of the Summer Reading Challenge, how it works, the materials (including the Beyond Quest Seekers and Booked Up booklet) and some quotes from users. We used a shorter version of this to talk to teachers and literacy advisers at a national conference about the Summer Reading Challenge, and we think you will find it useful for similar presentations to education / other partners.

The powerpoint is not locked so you can customise it to make is shorter or with additional slides or delete those not relevant, and edit the text to suit.

You may want to add a slide/ point about dates the challenge is running in your area, any local partnerships and plans and perhaps change the quotes with some from local families, teachers, staff etc. The font used is Aerial regular.

This is designed to complement your library staff training. It is a checklist for planning with library staff in preparation for running the summer reading challenge. the challenge is designed to be flexible, to fit individual library authority requirements, so it can be amended to reflect your own system. Spotlight is run in collaboration with Children's Reading Partners.

Spotlight aims:
* to introduce children to the best new writing and expand their reading horizons
* to help parents make informed reading choices for their children
* to enhance libraries' promotion of current children's literature

Information about the titles selected for September to December is also being sent out to libraries and suppliers.
